If we’ve never met, there’s one thing I’d love for you to know: I don’t think creativity belongs to artists. I think it belongs to all of us.
It lives in baking bread, tending a garden, writing a letter, painting with children, arranging flowers, telling stories, sharing meals, and making something simply because it brings us joy.
That’s the heart behind everything you’ll find at The Evergreen Table.
My Story
For a long time, I believed creativity belonged to other people. Artists. Writers. People with “real talent.” Then, in my twenties, someone handed me The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. One small invitation changed everything.
Instead of trying to become creative, I simply began. I painted. I kept art journals. I wrote. I made things badly. I made things joyfully. Little by little, I discovered something that changed my life.
Creativity wasn’t something I had to earn. It was something I had to remember. That realization became the thread connecting everything that followed.
Over the years I’ve worn many hats.
Artist.
Writer.
Yoga teacher.
Retreat leader.
Life coach.
Podcast host.
Mother to three wonderfully creative boys.
Gardener.
Bread baker.
Flower Essence Practitioner
Illustrator.
Looking back, I can see they were never separate paths. They were all invitations to create. Not for the sake of being productive.
But for the joy of participating in life.
The Evergreen Table didn’t begin as a business. It began as a way of living.
It grew while baking sourdough on Friday mornings. Growing flowers in the backyard. Painting watercolor at the kitchen table. Writing letters by hand. Hosting gatherings.Walking woodland trails. Watching my boys make things simply because they loved to.
One day I realized these weren’t separate hobbies. They belonged together.
Because they all asked the same gentle question: What if creativity isn’t something we perform? What if it’s simply a way of paying attention?
The Evergreen Table became my answer.
We are makers.
We are wonderers.
We are gatherers.
Creativity belongs to everyone.
Wonder grows when we slow down enough to notice.
Beauty often lives in ordinary moments.
Making something with our hands changes us.
Gathering nourishes us.
There is always room for one more at the table.
